2009 Church Picnic @Evansburg State Park on August 15th Saturday, starting with breakfast at 9:00 AM Evansburg State Park is in southcentral Montgomery County between Norristown and Collegeville. Evansburg offers a significant area of green space and relative solitude in an urbanized area. Its main natural feature, the Skippack Creek, has dissected the land into ridges and valleys that create feelings of enclosures and provides scenic views. The narrow valley was first settled and farmed by Mennonites who also powered their industries with the water of the Skippack. Even now, mill remnants, mill buildings and houses from the eighteenth and nineteenth century dot the park landscape and serve as reminders of early American life. Today, the park is a quiltwork of cropland, meadows, old fields and mature woodlands that attracts day use visitors from the Montgomery County and Philadelphia areas. People come to the open play fields, picnic areas, trails, golf course and the relatively tranquil, natural environs. Take route 422 East toward King of Prussia 2. Follow the "direction from Route 422" From Upper Darby: 1. Take route 476 North toward route 76 West- King of Prussia 2. Follow the direction for route 422 west toward Pottstown 3. Follow the "direction from Route 422" Direction from Route 422: 1. Take PA-29 exit toward Collegeville (29 North) 2. Continue PA-29 North 3. At the 7th light turn right. it's a T junction 4. Keep right and cross the bridge 5. On the fork keep left and take Germantown Pike 6. Turn left at Skippack Creek Rd (On Germantown Pk, Park sign at right side) 7. After the STOP sign turn right at May Hall Rd 8. Pavilion is located on May Hall Rd right side From Allentown: From 476, take exit 31 for PA-63 East toward Lansdale. Turn left at PA-63 Sumneytown Pk Turn right at Bustard Rd. Turn right at skippack Pike (Route 73). Turn left at Evansburg Rd Turn right at Kratz Rd. Turn left at Old Evansburg Rd. Continue on Evansburg Rd. Turn left at Mill Rd. Turn left at May Hall Rd.
