Rev. Abraham Mathew grew-up and studied in the hometown of Seethathodu, Pathanamthitta District, Kerala. He completed his Bachelor's of Theology (B.Th.) at Hindustan Bible Institute, Madras. He also holds a Bachelor's of Divinity (B.D.) from Leonard Theological College in Jabalpur. The Right Reverend Dr. Zacharias Mar Theophilus ordained Reverend Mathew as a priest in 1991.
Achen trained himself to be a theological educator. His life passions include the mentoring of young lives and the encouragement of God's people. His devotion to Christ began as a field missionary in Santhi Mandiram, Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh. Later on, while living in Jhansi, he served as the director of the Marthoma Gram Jyoti schools, working closely with the villagers of Madhya Pradesh. Reverend Mathew provided free basic education which has since spread to eleven states. Today his work in the remote village is apparent at the high school level. In Gram Jyoti, Reverend Mathew also served as the Vicar of the Jhansi Marthoma Church, which falls under the Bombay-Delhi diocese.
